Your guests will love toasting with this bubbly drink on special occasions! This champagne co*cktail is a great choice for a girls’ weekend, a wedding shower, or a special holiday like Easter, Mother’s Day, or Valentine’s Day.

While we love a traditional mimosa, it’s refreshing to serve a mimosa recipe without orange juice!

We love how bright and sweet these strawberry mimosas are! They are perfect for a brunch during the Spring and Summer months!

They’re also so easy and quick to make! You only need 3 ingredients and 5 minutes to create this co*cktail!

What goes in a mimosa?

A traditional orange mimosa is equal parts fresh orange juice and dry champagne . A classic mimosa recipe can commonly be topped with a orange wedge on top and is presented in a champagne flute.

We chose to use fresh pureed strawberries instead of OJ to make a sweeter, rosier drink. You can also top each glass with fresh berries or pineapple.

The pink mimosa is perfect for Summer, wedding showers, or a Mother’s Day breakfast.

Why do you put strawberries in champagne?

If you’ve ever seen Pretty Woman, you know Richard Gere teaches Julia Roberts that strawberries bring out the flavor in champagne.

You could choose to just eat a strawberry on the side while drinking champagne, but we had the wild idea to mix the two flavors together!

Should you use brut vs extra dry champagne for a mimosa?

The best kind of champagne for mimosas is brut or extra brut champagne. These options have little to no residual sugar and keeps the mimosas from being too sweet.

You can usually find the words, “extra dry”, on the label, but another way to know if it’s a dry is to look at the sugar per serving. A brut champagne or brut wine will have less than 2 grams of sugar per serving.

An Italian Prosecco is another popular choice, as well as, a Spanish Cava. Both are dry and a great option for this mimosa recipe.

What’s the best champagne for a mimosa?

You can choose any dry sparkling wine for these strawberry mimosas.

If you’re looking for an entry-level champagne for a brunch, we like the Barefoot Bubbly Extra Dry. It’s the best cheap champagne we’ve found. It’s around $12 at our local wine store.

A less-expensive Cava or Prosecco is also an excellent choice for a Sunday brunch or mimosa bar as well. We also like Midnight Hour NV Prosecco or Freixenet Brut Cava Cordon Negro; both are under $15.

Is there a best glass to use for mimosas?

Any champagne flute will work great for mimosas, but our favorite glasses are always Riedel!

They are designed specially for champagne drinks, and we really have been able to tell a difference using Riedel glasses compared to normal champagne or wine glasses.

Can you make mimosas ahead of time?

Since our fresh strawberry mimosas are carbonated with champagne, we wouldn’t recommend making them ahead of time.

They could lose their bubbles and also separate a little. So, it’s better to make this brunch co*cktail fresh!

You could go ahead and have a pitcher of fresh strawberry purée and a bottle of champagne ready to go before guests arrive though!

How to Make a Pitcher of Mimosas

You could double our recipe to make a pitcher of mimosas for a large crowd or party as well!

To make a pitcher of mimosas, you’ll want to:

  • prepare your strawberry purée and pour it into the pitcher
  • Pour in chilled champagne and stir
  • slice any extra fresh fruit to garnish individual glasses and refrigerate

Can you make non-alcoholic mimosas?

Yes! You could use an non-alcoholic champagne or a alcohol-free sparkling drink like club soda, sparkling white grape juice, Perrier, or La Croix.

How to Make the Best Easy Strawberry Mimosas Recipe

This is such a simple, beautiful drink to serve at any brunch!

  1. Cut up the strawberries into quarters, reserving 2-4 for the glasses.
  2. Blend the strawberries with the water until completely blended.
  3. Pour strawberry puree into bottom 1/3 of a champagne flute.
  4. Fill with chilled champagne or juice.
  5. Cut a slit in your remaining strawberries to place on the side of the mimosa glass.

Are mimosas shaken or stirred?

Since mimosas have carbonation in them from the champagne, you don’t want to shake this fun drink. You can lightly stir it though if you want.

Are mimosas served with ice?

No, mimosas are not served with ice. If you’d like to keep the drink colder, you can chill the champagne flutes ahead of time or add a couple frozen strawberries to a pitcher of drinks.

Mimosa Garnishes

A pink mimosa is pretty on its own, but you can top the glass with a fun garnish as well.

  • Orange slices
  • Twist of lemon
  • Fresh berries or strawberries
  • Sprig of mint
  • Sprig of basil leaves

What is the difference in Champagne, Cava, and Dry Sparkling Wines?

True champagne comes from the Champagne region of France. Only dry sparkling wines from that region can be called champagne. You can find some great extra dry wine from all over the world though. This is where Cava and Prosecco come in!

What Else Should You Serve at Brunch?

You can’t go wrong with this simple brunch co*cktail, but you may also want to think about the rest of your menu!

We love to pair this fruity co*cktail with a yummy egg quiche or grab-and-go keto cinnamon rolls!

If you’re looking for a show-stopping dessert, we love a Kentucky Bundt Cake or our Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake!
